Children are the most beautiful yet fragile things in this world. They are the heavenly creatures that often come under debate that whether or not they should do chores and household things. Many argue that it is the parents’ responsibility to do the chores and other things and children should not come under the burden of household and other chores because it will snatch their beautiful childhood (https://www.parent.com/blogs/conversations/why-i-dont-make-my-kids-do-chores) while others come in the opposition and promote the idea of children doing household and other usual chores and assist their hypothesis with the ideas like childhood is the stage where a child learns and develops most of the things for his future life. So, without the chores and proper experience how is he going to survive in this world. The main focus of this article is going to be the important reasons why is it important for a child to do the chores and other household things. Some of the reasons are given below:
Chores give confidence to the children:
One of the most important things we can do as a parent is to give our child the skills, let them learn how to digest criticism that is constructive in nature and how to complete the assignment without mistakes. This will ultimately give him the confidence that is required to live this life full of hurdles.
We all know, in this technological era, confidence is the key to life. Going to stage speaking in front of huge gatherings, giving good presentations, and everything else becomes too difficult. So, the importance of doing household and other chores is undeniable.
Importance of chores in learning essential life skills:
As we always hear, only the fittest survives. That is a literally true statement. I would like to explain this with an example story. When I was a little kid, I had a friend whose family took all the responsibility of doing all the household chores by hiring a maid. As a kid, I was so jealous of that kid friend of mine who had that maid. But in college I saw that little kid, who was an adult now, struggling with simple life skills. Like doing his laundry, polishing his own show, and other essential life skills.
As a parent, I believe giving children the basic and essential life skills is the prime responsibility of the parents. And the best thing that can teach a kid, essential life skills, is household chores.
Chores facilitate physical development:
Doing chores help children to develop better motor skills and coordination. Moreover, while doing chores children move and use their muscles that burn all the extra calories they take in their foods and keep them muscular and lean. Chores help them grow their muscle which is the best thing for a kid because this helps us all our lives in every possible way. They make it possible for us to walk, to eat, to drink, to see, and to do everything in this world.
Time management and household chores:
In this fast-moving world, it is necessary that one should learn how to move with the pace of the quick-moving time or world. But how is this possible? It can be only possible by learning the skill of time management.
It is a common observation that kids who did the household chores in their childhood know how best to manage their time and can really do a lot of things in a short span of time.
Almost all the kids love to play games. So, if the parents assign them a task and if the kid has completed the assignment in the assigned span of time, they will let him play. That would be the best possible strategy for parents to teach their children how best to manage their time. Being kids, kids may not like it but as parents we know it is necessary and it will help them a lot in their adult life.
Children feel an important part of the family/team by doing the chores:
When kids are doing the household chores and helping the parents to complete the necessary household things they feel like an important part of the team or family because everyone in the family is working towards the common goal. And that feeling of commonness makes them feel important.
Parents can also teach them how to do the household chores by saying to their kids that if they will help their parents do the necessary chores, they will take them on the trip. In this way, children will think their work is being valued and is important to their parents. It will also give them the necessary confidence of being important and valued.Â

Kids learn how to take care of their belongings by doing chores:
When a kid is washing his favorite sweatshirt and it gets unstitched from somewhere, this unstitching of his shirt will teach him a big lesson and the next time he is washing his favorite jacket he will try to take great care of it because of the fear of damaging the jacket and this will ultimately teach a kid that how best to do his laundry.
Chores will teach the kids that when they place their toys at their assigned place, they remain safe while if they throw them on the floor they do not last long. So, doing chores will instill the association, that if they take care of something it lasts longer.
